How do I find my polling station?
You vote at the polling station where you registered — not the one nearest to where you happen to live or work on the day. Confirm which station that is through the official IEBC verification service at iebc.or.ke before election day.
Your station is fixed to your registration
When you register, you are assigned to a specific polling station. That assignment is what decides where you vote, and it does not follow you if you move house, change jobs or travel.
If you have moved, you need a transfer during an IEBC transfer window — turning up at a nearer station on election day will not work.
How to confirm it
- 1
Use the IEBC verification service
Go to iebc.or.ke during a verification window. The IEBC announces the service, and any SMS option, itself.
- 2
Check well before the day
If your station is wrong or your details need correcting, that has to be fixed inside an IEBC window, which closes before the election.
- 3
Note it down
Know the station name and where it is before election morning, so you are not searching on the day.
Your ward decides your ballot, not just your station
The ward you are registered in also determines which MCA, MP, Senator, Woman Representative and Governor appear on your ballot. Baraza can show you all six races for a ward.
