- Baraza is a Kenyan civic-engagement platform that connects voters with the verified political candidates and leaders running in their ward, constituency and county ahead of the 2027 general election. It is free to read — you can follow candidates, ask them questions, vote in polls and track their promises.
- Is Baraza affiliated with the IEBC or any political party?
- No. Baraza is independent and not affiliated with the IEBC, any political party or any campaign. Candidate verification only confirms who a candidate is — it is never an endorsement.
- How do I find the candidates for my area on Baraza?
- Create a free account and tell Baraza where you vote, or browse the map on the Explore page. Baraza then maps you to the six seats that represent you — MCA, Member of Parliament, Woman Representative, Senator, Governor and President — and the people contesting them.
- Is Baraza free to use?
- Yes. Reading the feed, following candidates, asking questions and voting in polls is free for voters. Candidates can optionally pay for verification, campaign plans, digital billboards and SMS outreach.
- How does candidate verification work on Baraza?
- A candidate adds a clear photo of themselves, and an administrator checks it by hand against their own public campaign before approving them. Approved candidates who take up paid verification carry the gold badge. The IEBC issues nomination certificates only after the 2027 party nominations; candidates can add theirs then. Verification confirms who a candidate is — it is never an endorsement.

- A traditional baraza is a community meeting where people gather to discuss local issues. Baraza the platform brings that idea online: a national civic square where Kenyans engage their leaders ward by ward, all year round, on the record.
